Cross Country (Boys and Girls)
Cross Country is a distance running sport. Practices enable runners to develop cardiovascular conditioning. Members learn to pace themselves, monitor their workouts and adapt to the differing environmental conditions. The team’s goal is to have runners improve their race times throughout the season.

Practices:
1 hr. daily, 3:00-4:00, Monday-Thursday and 7:00 AM on Fridays

Other:
The Cross Country team participates in the Illinois Elementary Schools Athletics (IESA) Program. Through this program runners may qualify for the State Meet via sectional and regional competition. The team also runs in a Saturday conference meet at the end of the season.

This is a “no-cut” sport.
Flag Football
Flag Football teaches basic skills of football. Students will practice throwing, catching, route running, defensive coverage, offensive and defensive footwork, running, cutting, and being illusive, proper pursuit angles, blocking, disengaging from a block, and proper offensive and defensive stances for each position. Students will be exposed to a variety of offensive and defensive strategies. Students will engage in training and conditioning to improve their speed, strength, agility, quickness and overall athleticism.

Golf
The Gower Golf Team offers our students the opportunity to demonstrate their golf skills in both a SDEAA conference tournament and the IESA state tournament series.
