Gower Middle School offers a wide variety of club activities throughout the school year during and after the regular school day. Below is a listing of available activities and information about each activity. Please be aware that at times activities may have an overlapping commitment.

Art Club participants will create seasonal crafts, drawings, and paintings. The Art Club is open to all students, grades 5-8. Participation is on a first come first serve basis. A $15.00 fee is collected to cover the cost of supplies. The Art Club meets from April to October from 3:00 – 4:00 pm.
Director – Mrs. Kolze
Chorus encourages students to develop their singing skills and provide performance activities. Chorus is open to all students in grades 5-8. Students meet from September to May during study hall. The Chorus performs a Winter Concert in December.

Cooking Club is for students in grades 7 and 8 that enjoy the opportunity and experience of cooking. Students will spend most of their time creating snacks during club time. Participants will learn about measuring techniques, the proper use of cooking terminology, and the use of cooking equipment. Students will be able to explore recipes and learn how nutritious snacks can improve overall health. Cooking Club meets from October to April one day per week from 3:15 – 4:00.

Dance Line provides students with the opportunity to express themselves through the various forms of dance. All students, grades 5-8 are invited to participate. Dance Line meets during Study Hall during the school year and culminates with a daytime performance.
Drama Club/Reader’s Theater

Drama Club/Reader’s Theater is open to all students in grades 5-8. The club gives students an opportunity to participate in various activities to sharpen their auditioning and acting skills Activities include: improvisational games, work with timbre and tone of voice, trust activities, short ‘cold’ readings from scripts, audition tips, evaluation of play and musical structure. Drama Club/Reader’s Theater meets from October – December one day per week from 3:15 – 4:00 pm.

Environmental Club is open to all students in grades 5-8 and meets throughout the school year. The club offers activities that enable students to become informed as to how they can help and improve their school environment. Club members participate in the collection of recyclable materials on Fridays and act as volunteers in the lunchroom overseeing all facets of the recycling process.

Flag Line is an extension of the band program for students in grades 6, 7, and 8. All members of the Gower Flag Line team must be regular band members. The Flag Line performs flag routines at the Winter Band Concert and at spirit assemblies throughout the year. Flag Line members practice during Study Hall as well as before and after school.

Garden Club is a club for all students in grades 5 through 8 that love plants and the outdoors. The participants plant garden beds for the two courtyards. The students weed, plant, transplant and design planting beds. The Garden Club meets once per week seasonally all year from 3:15 – 4:00.

Geography Club is open to all students in grades 5 through 8. The Club stresses getting to know the geography, economies, and politics of our global world. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Geography Bee held in January of each year. Geography Club practices from September to March one day per week from 3:00 – 4:00 pm.

Save your favorite t-shirts to make a one of a kind quilt! Quilt Club is open to students in grades 7 and 8 who have some knowledge of sewing. Students will need 9 to 15 t-shirts and other purchased supplies to piece together to make their very own quilt. Quilt Club meets from November to December (or until students finish his or her project) twice a week from 3:00 – 5:00 pm

Robotics Club is open to all students in grades 5 through 8 and provides a more in-depth experience in assembling robotic machines. The Club meets throughout the year during Study Hall.

Spirit Club is open to all students in grades 5 through 8 and provides the opportunity for students to show school spirit. This club plans Spirit Assemblies throughout the year and helps with the Gowerpalooza Talent Show in December. Spirit Club meets during Study Hall

Spring Musical is open to all students in grades 5 through 8 who desire to showcase their thespian talents. Auditions are held in January. Cast members have three months to learn the script, songs, and choreography. The cast practices during Lunch/Study Hall as well as before and after school. The musical is presented the last Thursday and Friday in April.

Student Council is open to all students in grades 5 through 8 who wish to enhance the school and community through leadership, scholarship, citizenship and fun. The Student Council has four elected officers and a team of appointed committee chairs who form the Leadership Team. Student Council members meet throughout the year on Thursday mornings before school.
