Register by May 10th for these Summer Opportunities 2021

Summer Art Challenge for students in ECE-4th grade to be able to access various videos of Mrs. Holland’s throughout the summer months.  It can be a pick and choose, at your own pace or a rainy day resource.  There are also links for parents to see additional Art Resources if their children enjoy drawing and want to do more at your own pace Art clubs.

Cost is free.  There is no registration needed for this challenge.



4th Grade Virtual Summer Band Camp: This camp will start current 4th grade students on a wind instrument to help set them up with basics for 5th Cadet band. Students will learn how to set up and play on their instruments and play the first few notes. The camp will be virtual and a mix of synchronous and asynchronous activities. Students will also have the flexibility to work at their own pace throughout the camp and have virtual check-ins with Mrs. Hoff throughout the process.


Dates:  June 7 through July 15 (Weekly Zoom Meetings): Details will be confirmed after registrations are in.  


Cost is $40.00.  Parents are responsible for purchasing/supplying the instrument. Register here.


Virtual Art & Nature for students in K-8 with Mrs. Donahue.  Create 3 exciting crafts that incorporate nature!  Fun for all ages and experience levels!


Dates:  June 7th-June 25th:  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Pre-recorded lessons through Flip Grid go live at 9:00 am, but remain open for student convenience.


Cost is $30.00 for the materials kit.  Kits will be distributed before school is out.  Please register here.


Virtual Book Club for students in Grades 5-7.  Join your classmates and Gower’s World Language teachers, Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Stecich, this summer for a laid-back book club with some Spanish flair!  We’ll be reading, discussing and doing some fun activities with the novel:  Me, Frida, and the Secret of the Peacock Ring by Angela Cervantes.  It’s a mystery set in Mexico filled with arte, cultura, and familia!  Hope you can join us!


Dates:  Zoom meetings to discuss the book are:  June 14, June 17, June 21, and June 24 from 10:00-10:30 am.


Cost is $8.00 for the book.  Books will be distributed before school is out.  Please register here.


Stitch Your Way into Summer for students in grades 6-7. Make your own drawstring bag with Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Graves. You will need a t-shirt, which will be cut and used to make the bag.  Bring the shirt to the first day of class.  You will need to purchase and bring a ½ yard of lining material and a spool of coordinating thread.


Dates:  June 7-10 in the Gower West Learning Center from 8:30-10:30 am.      


Cost is $5.00 for the remaining materials to make the bag.  Register here.


STEM League: Build your own RC Race Car.  Compete in a series of challenges and games, such as Rocket League Line and Gower Gran Prix!  Students in grades 5-7 can sign up to work with Mr. Aiura and Mr. Hey.


Dates:  June 14-18 in the Gower West Gym from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm.


Cost is $150.00 for the race car that students get to keep.  Register here.


Jr. Jazz Band & Jazz Band in person rehearsals with Mr. Pittman to introduce and refine jazz techniques, jazz solos, etc.   Also, this camp will introduce students to a wide variety of jazz, pop, and rock repertoire.  For students currently in grades 5-7.


Dates:  June 7-June 17 (Monday-Thursday) in the Gower West Cafeteria

Jazz is from 8:30-9:30 am with drop off at 8:25 am and Jr. Jazz from 9:30-10:30 am with drop off at 9:25 am.


Cost is $40 for class and includes a method book that students will keep.  Register here.
